Genetics is the study of heredity. The gene, the basic functional unit of heredity, is the focal point of this course. The course includes the fundamentals of gene structure and function, gene expression and control, classical genetics including both eukaryotes and prokaryotes, and concludes with the genetic analysis of populations. The primary course goal is to enhance and to develop students understanding and application of core genetic principles through problem-solving. Math Placement Level 2 is highly recommended.
