This course will explore the history of Jazz music in America. Students will investigate various styles and periods in the development of jazz. They will learn to identify key innovators and their contributions to this art form. The course will also address the impact of race, class and ethnicity on the development of Jazz. This course meets the Study of the Arts General Education Requirement.
