In this creative writing course, students will engage with the tradition of nature writing as they develop their own nature writing practices. Analyzing strategies writers use to represent the more-than-human, students will explore the different ways poetry, nonfiction, and fiction can engage readers with the expansive natural world. Classwork will include discussions of reading in different genres of nature writing, strategies for developing nature writing projects, workshops on student writing, and opportunities to visit natural surroundings in order to write.
