COMMS 321 - Field Rhetoric Minimum Credit(s) Awarded: 3 Maximum Credit(s) Awarded: 3
In this course, students learn how to analyze and critique the meaning of commonplace items and phenomena related to topics such as food, movies, policies, speeches, protests, music, sports, art, or anything that interests them. They do this by going to the places where these things occur, observing them in action, and understanding how people experience them. In other words, this course introduces students to field rhetoric, a research method that combines rhetorical analysis with ethnography. The course includes a trip abroad.
