ANES 810 - Principles of Nurse Anesthesia III Minimum Credit(s) Awarded: 3 Maximum Credit(s) Awarded: 3
This course builds upon the skills learned in ANES 802 & 806 and encourages the nurse anesthesia student to make complex decisions regarding complex patient populations. Anesthetic techniques for thoracic, extra thoracic, cardiac, head and neck, neurosurgical, orthopedic, vascular, emergency and respiratory operations will be explained. Varying depths of anesthesia, special considerations for delivery of anesthesia in critical patient populations, monitoring pulmonary function, cardiac function and central nervous system function along with acid base balances and ventilatory support will also be discussed. Students will be expected to create anesthetic care plans including special considerations for complex patients in various surgical settings. Students will become proficient with specific anesthesia skills through lab and simulation to prepare for providing evidence based, individualized anesthetic care in clinical practicum
