ANES 811  - Principles of Nurse Anesthesia IV

This course builds on all skills, topics, and practice adaptations from previous principles courses to prepare the nurse anesthesia student for confident delivery of safe anesthesia in the clinical setting. This course will focus on anesthetic management of acute and chronic pain, robotic/laparoscopic surgery, substance use disorders, enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS), non-operating room anesthesia (NORA), trauma, burns, oncology and organ transplantation/procurement. Students will become proficient with specific anesthesia skills through lab and simulation to prepare for providing evidence based, individualized anesthetic care in clinical practicum. Legal and business factors regarding nurse anesthesia practice will also be presented. This course will successfully prepare the nurse anesthesia student for the National Certification Exam (NCE).
