ANES 816 - Practicum III Minimum Credit(s) Awarded: 4 Maximum Credit(s) Awarded: 4
This course is designed to allow the nurse anesthesia student to integrate and apply previous courses and clinical experiences to provide anesthesia to the entire spectrum of patients at an independent level. Each nurse anesthesia student will be clinically guided and educated by one certified registered nurse anesthetist or physician anesthesiologist. The student will prepare a care plan for each case, each day, and will discuss their anesthetic plan with the CRNA they are paired with for that specific day. Students will incorporate pre-operative assessment and anesthesia care plans to provide a safe anesthetic with minimal input from their supervising preceptor. Students will be expected to participate in all clinical case conferences and utilize an Evidenced-based approach in formulating care plans and discussion of cases with preceptors and surgical and nursing colleagues. Local and national anesthesia conferences and seminars may be required throughout the nurse anesthesia practicum.
