This course provides a comprehensive examination of the legal and ethical frameworks that govern healthcare administration and leadership. Students will explore foundational healthcare laws, regulations, and court decisions that shape organizational policy and practice, including patient rights, healthcare compliance, risk management, discoverability, and institutional liability. Grounded in Dominican values of justice, integrity, and respect for human dignity, the course emphasizes ethical decision-making frameworks applied to complex healthcare dilemmas involving patient autonomy, resource allocation, confidentiality, and organizational stewardship. Through case studies, regulatory analysis, and real-world applications, students will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate legal challenges, ensure compliance, and uphold ethical standards as healthcare leaders committed to serving patients and communities with integrity.
