The Theatre Arts core requires a total of 37 credits, plus 13 credits required for the concentration.

In order to achieve a concentration in Technical/Design, students must complete the following:

Theatre Arts Major Requirements

Students must complete the Theatre Core and at least one but not more than two concentrations.

THA 337 A - Development of Dramatic Arts II Minimum Credit(s) Awarded: 3
THA 370 BX - Directing I Minimum Credit(s) Awarded: 4
THA 390 B - Theatre Design Elements Minimum Credit(s) Awarded: 3
THA 470 - One-Act Play Production Minimum Credit(s) Awarded: 4
THA 499 3K - Theatre Senior Project Minimum Credit(s) Awarded: 2
AND a minimum of 3 credits of any THA Theatre courses, other than THA COR 1 or THA film courses.

Theatre Design/Technology/Management Concentration Requirements

Theatre Design/Technology/Management Concentration consist of the 37 credits in the Theatre Core, plus 13 credits in the concentration.

The goal of this concentration is to tailor a program of study to the interests and talents of the individual student in the theatre design, technology and management fields. This can include, but is not limited to, sets, props, lights, sound, costumes, hair & make-up, stage management and theatre management.

Students are required to map an individualized plan with their theatre advisor for this concentration.

All students in the Theatre Design/Technology/Management Concentration are required to take the following classes:

*Students are also required to present once in the KCACTF DTM completion or comparable organization.

Electives within the Theatre Design/Technology/Management Concentration

Students may complete their remaining Design/Technology/Management Concentration credits from the following list of approved courses.

Students are required to map a plan with their advisor to tailor these electives to their interests and talents.

Note: Students may take either ART 151 or ART 152 for this concentration, but not both.

THA 379, THA 385, THA 479 and/or THA 480 must have a design, technology or management focus to count for this concentration, which is determined by the advisor and the Theatre Arts Department.
