English, Teaching Concentration, BA


Students will meet all requirements for the English, BA degree and will include courses listed below to complete the Teaching Concentration within the English Major.

  • One D or G Tagged English Course
  • Other English courses to total 48 credits, not including ENG 110 Â 
  • Transfer students must earn at least 16 credits in English from Edgewood College at the 300/400 level in addition to ENG 481 , the COR 3 seminar. Post-baccalaureate students are exempt from this requirement.
  • At least 5 additional courses in Literature at the 300/400 level, one of which must be a pre-1865 literature course.

For students intending to pursue an initial educator license to teach middle/high school in Wisconsin, it is recommended that candidates complete:

Upon graduation, students may matriculate into the Accelerated Secondary Program (ASP) Â to complete the professional education core sequence for secondary education licenses. In year 5, students will complete an additional 16 credits with an option to earn a Master of Arts degree in Education after completing 12 additional graduate credits (*Note* This is a 34-credit MA + License Program). Contact the Accelerated Secondary Education Program (ASP) for more information.
