Major Requirements
The Spanish Teaching Major is part of a program leading to a Wisconsin initial educator license to teach Spanish Teaching (Education), BA Â . The major requires forty-three credits beyond SPAN 101 Â and SPAN 102 , to include:
Spanish or Transfer Courses
Eight credits of intermediate Spanish or transfer courses (maximum of 8 credits accepted or 8 retroactive credits): Language Courses
Twelve credits of language from the following: Literature Courses
Eight credits of literature from the following: Culture Courses
Four credits of culture from the following: Elective Credits
Four credits of elective (from courses listed above beyond the 300 level):

Licensing Steps
To attain the Early Childhood through Adolescence (Birth-Age 21) license, students must have the following:
- WPT, OPI
- GPA of 2.75 in Communication Skills, General Education, Content Knowledge, Teacher EducationÂ
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in content area courses

Other Requirements
Practicum Experiences are required for Spanish Teaching.Â
Students are highly encouraged to take education courses with a practicum component in the following sequence:
ED 200  and ED 215  should be taken concurrently along with a 0-credit initial practicum (ED 200P ) in the Fall.
ED 306  and ED 330  should also be coupled with a 0-credit initial practicum (ED 250P ) in the Spring.
ED 450P  (a 0-credit advanced practicum) should be taken the same semester as the Foreign Language Methods coursework.
ED 401 Â should be taken the semester prior to student teaching in the Fall.
ED 402 Â should be taken the same semester as student teaching and will be a spring offering.
