Additional Requirements
An additional 16 credits of Mathematics courses at the 300 level or above will be selected in consultation with the student’s advisor. Depending on the student’s interests and course availability, some suitable courses in closely related disciplines or taken via the Collaborative Program may be substituted with the approval of the Mathematics Department.

For students interested in pursuing a teaching license:
For students majoring in mathematics intending to pursue an initial educator license to teach middle/high school mathematics, it is recommended that the additional courses at the 300-level or above include MATH 441 and MATH 461 . In addition, the candidate may take ED 635 (3 credits) and ED 602A (3 credits) in the spring semester of their senior year as additional preparation for a post-baccalaureate licensure program such as the Accelerated Secondary Program (ASP) . Consult with your advisor to map out your courses accordingly.
Upon graduation, students may matriculate into the Accelerated Secondary Program (ASP) to complete the professional education core sequence for secondary education licenses. In year 5, students will complete an additional 16 credits with an option to earn a Master of Arts degree in Education after completing 12 additional graduate credits (*Note* This is a 34-credit MA + License Program).
