Computer Information Systems, Mobile Development Concentration, BS


Computer Information Systems Core Requirements


The Computer Information Systems (CIS) major is structured to provide you with the theoretical framework upon which to build your knowledge and skills necessary to compete and be productive in IT world.  Integrated within liberal arts tradition, our practical curriculum guides your journey to a career in the Computing and/or Information Technology field through hands-on activities, interactive applications and real-life projects that sharpen your abilities to problem solve and work in teams. It incorporates community outreach and senior capstone experiences that showcase your skills for future employers.  In addition, CIS degree includes concentrations which gives you extra knowledge in an emerging field, such as Cyber-Security, Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence, or others.

Core courses for the major


Students without previous programming experience must take CS 170 ; otherwise consent of the instructor will be needed to take CS 176  and CS 179 .

Any course in which a student receives a grade below “CD” will not be accepted to the major.

Required Supporting Courses


Field Experience Requirement


All students are required to complete at least one internship or an engaged learning experience. Consult your advisor for details on how to complete this requirement. The internship class may be taken for 1-3 credits following the minimum 50 hours/credit model.

Mobile Development Concentration Requirements


Courses for this concentration will be taken through a collaborative agreement with Madison College.

Twelve credits of course work, including the following courses are required.  Please work with your advisor to develop a plan for this concentration.
