English Minor

Return to: Degree Programs, Majors, Minors, and Certificates
The English minor explores how reading and writing reflects and shapes human experience. Through the study and composition of fiction, poetry, and drama, students practice close reading and critical interpretation while considering the cultural, historical, and ethical questions raised by literary works.
|
Minor Requirements
The English minor requires six literature courses at the 300- or 400-level. A literature course is any course in which the primary focus is the close reading, analysis, and interpretation of imaginative texts (including fiction, poetry, and drama). Such courses emphasize critical engagement with texts and the development of evidence-based written or oral arguments about their meaning, form, and context. |
