Art and Design Teaching, BA

The teaching major is part of a program leading to a Wisconsin initial educator license to teach at the early childhood through adolescence level (Birth-Age 21).

Policies

An Art and Design Teaching Major must be taken through emergent progression transition to ART 466  and ART 468 ; progress through transition steps is recommended as early as possible. Full implementation of PI 34 for teacher and administrator licensing in Wisconsin took full effect on September 1, 2004. All students completing teaching programs for licensing after August 31, 2004 must now meet new licensing and license-renewal rules applicable to their respective programs, including PRAXIS I/PRAXIS II testing and performance-based portfolio assessment.

Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in content area courses is required.

A student majoring in Art and Design Teaching must complete a minimum of 12 credits in art courses at Edgewood College. All majors must fulfill the Senior Presentation and Critique requirement in order to obtain Art Department approval for graduation.
