This major is designed for individuals who wish to be certified to teach general science and/or the earth and space sciences at the secondary level (WDPI category: Early Adolescence through Adolescence, ages 10-21; WDPI licenses 621 and 635). The major requires completion of the requirements listed below, the Education Professional Requirements and licensing requirements for teacher education (see School of Education).
A student must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 in all courses taken to fulfill the major requirements. Any course in which a student receives a grade below “CD” will not be accepted toward the major. Transfer students must take a minimum of 12 natural science credits with either a BIO, CHEM, GEOS, NATS or PHYS prefix.
