This program provides working, Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) with an earned Associate Degree in Respiratory Care an accessible and efficient pathway to concurrently complete their bachelor’s degree.
Prerequisites for Admission
Applicants seeking admission to Health Science: Respiratory Care Degree Advancement Concentration, RRT to BS program must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of an associate degree in a CoARC accredited respiratory therapy program and regional accreditation of the college or university
- Cumulative grade point average of 2.25 on a 4.0 scale in previous academic work with at least a 2.5 grade point average in the AS degree program.
- Must have an RRT credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
Policies for the Respiratory Care Degree Advancement Program
An overall GPA of 2.5 on a 4-point scale for all pre-professional coursework is required. In addition, a minimum of “C” grade must be earned in each prerequisite course.
Students must maintain an overall 3.0 GPA for all coursework within the RCP concentration (RCP prefix courses).
Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR & AED Training for Healthcare Professionals certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) training center is required prior to application to the Respiratory Care program and must be active during the clinical training.
Students will also be required to complete a caregiver background check, as required by WI state law.
A total of 120 semester credits are required for graduation, with at least 26 major course credits taken at Edgewood College. Credits may be transferred from another accredited degree-granting institution and applied to fulfill major course requirements at the discretion of the Program Director in keeping with Edgewood College policy.
