Physics, Pre-Engineering Concentration, BS

This concentration is designed for students who are interested in a career in engineering.

Engineering Dual Degree Program

Students in this major are eligible to participate in the Engineering Dual Degree program with UW-Platteville. This allows students to earn two Bachelor’s Degrees: one in Physics from Edgewood College and one in either Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from UW-Platteville. Admission to UW-Platteville is competitive; strong candidates will have a major GPA of at least 3.0. If you are interested in the Dual Degree program, see your advisor for details.

Major Policies

A student must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 in all courses taken to fulfill the major and concentration requirements. Any course in which a student receives a grade below “CD” will not be accepted toward the major. Transfer students must take a minimum of 12 physics credits at Edgewood College. All transfer courses must be approved by the department.

An additional 3 credits to be chosen from any PHYS prefixed course. Must be at the 300 level or above. Recommended courses for pre-engineering:  PHYS 350  or PHYS 310 .

For students who participate in the Engineering Dual Degree program, this requirement will be met by coursework taken at UW-Platteville.
