Advanced Certification Elementary (ACE)

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has established competencies that must be completed prior to granting PI34 Licensure. A majority of these mandated competencies are embedded in required coursework and experiences and met through prior coursework. Advisors will discuss program plans individually with each student, suggesting courses to meet these mandates if there is a need.

Program Requirements
This sequence earns Elementary Regular Education (777) and Middle Childhood-Early Adolescence 6-13 (72) licensure.
English as a Second Language (ESL) and/or Bilingual Education add-on certificate for licensure may be secured through a combined degree plan. Optional: Add-on Licensing Sequence

Clinical Experiences
Clinical Experiences are required for the Advanced Certification Elementary (ACE) - Licensure: Elementary Education.
Students are to enroll in the designated practicum/clinical experience during the same semester that they take the associated ED courses:
- ED 661 – Students are to complete an Initial Level Clinical Placement of 30 hours through concurrent enrollment in ED 620P .
- ED 699A – Students are to complete an Intermediate Level Clinical Placement of 30 hours through concurrent enrollment in ED 650P .
- ED 683B – Students are to complete an Advanced Level Clinical Placement of 30 hours through concurrent enrollment in ED 750P .
These clinical hours fulfill degree completion and certification requirements for licensure as a teacher.
Practicum placement, observation, and assessment are coordinated through the Office of Clinical Experiences.
A supervision plan of the clinical experience will involve observation and assessment and assigned through the clinical office.
