Computational Neuroscience Minor

Neuroscience is a multidisciplinary field of study devoted to understanding the relationship between brain and behavior. Computational neuroscience is a sub-field of theoretical neuroscience which employs computational simulations to validate and solve mathematical models and is a relatively new interdisciplinary area of inquiry. Students use quantitative and modeling approaches to describe how nervous systems function to understand the neural basis of intelligent behaviors from a computational perspective.

The Computational Neuroscience Minor provides quantitative skills to those already studying the brain and teaches neuroscience to those already immersed in quantitative methodologies and prepares undergraduates to pursue careers in the life/health sciences. The minor is open to students in any major at Edgewood College.

The minor in Computational Neuroscience requires a total of seven courses for a minimum of 23 credits, drawn from the four core areas (psychology, biology, computer science and mathematics).
