Major Policies

A student must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 in all courses taken to fulfill the major and concentration requirements. Any natural science or mathematics course in which the student received a grade below “CD” will not be accepted toward the major. Transfer students must take a minimum of 12 natural science credits that have either a BIO, CHEM, GEOS, NATS or PHYS prefix at Edgewood College.

Broad Field Natural Science Major Requirements


For students majoring in Broad Fields Natural Science intending to pursue an initial educator license to teach middle/high school science, it is recommended candidates complete:

Upon graduation, students will matriculate into the Accelerated Secondary Program (ASP)  to complete the professional education core sequence for secondary education licenses. In year 5, students will complete an additional 16 credits with an option to earn a Master of Arts degree in Education after completing 12 additional graduate credits (*Note* This is a 34-credit MA + License Program). Contact the Accelerated Secondary Education Program (ASP) for more information.
