Transfer of Credit from Technical and Applied Programs

Credits earned in technical, vocational, or applied professional programs (including but not limited to programs such as veterinary technology, allied health, and skilled trades) may be considered for transfer to the University. Such coursework is evaluated for academic quality, level, and relevance in accordance with institutional standards and accreditation guidelines.

Because the University’s undergraduate degrees are grounded in the liberal arts and sciences, technical and applied coursework is generally not considered equivalent to courses within the general education curriculum or major requirements unless a clear and direct alignment can be demonstrated and approved through the established curricular review process.

A maximum of 21 semester credit hours earned in technical or applied programs may be applied toward a bachelor’s degree. Approved credits will typically be awarded as elective credit and will count toward the total number of credits required for graduation, subject to all other institutional transfer and residency requirements.

The University reserves the right to determine the applicability of all transfer credit to degree requirements in a manner consistent with its academic mission and standards.
