Program Description

The MS in Child Life provides advanced preparation for professional practice supporting the developmental and psychosocial needs of children and families in healthcare settings. The program integrates graduate-level study in child development, family systems, and therapeutic interventions with specialized coursework in child life practice, including assessment, coping strategies, and family-centered care. Emphasizing evidence-based practice, ethical decision-making, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the curriculum prepares students to work effectively within complex healthcare environments. Supervised clinical experiences provide opportunities to apply theory in practice and to develop professional competencies. Graduates are prepared to pursue certification as Child Life Specialists and for advanced roles in hospitals and related healthcare settings.
