One 4 credit-hour course at the 200 level or higher with coursework regarding historiography and research methods. This course will be chosen in consultation with an academic advisor
Additional credits in History electives to meet the 35 credit-hour total for the Bachelor of Arts. Up to two courses in the area may be fulfilled by credits earned through AP tests.
Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA in History courses taken toward the major.
History majors must earn 20 credit-hours in History courses at or above the 200-level.
Both undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students must earn 12 credit-hours in History at Edgewood University

NOTES:

  1. History majors who intend to pursue graduate school are strongly encouraged to consult with their advisor regarding taking a foreign language.

  2. History majors who intend to pursue an initial educator license to teach middle/high school should carefully consider the following graduate degree path:

Take 16 additional credits from three of the following disciplinary areas: economics, political science/international relations, sociology/anthropology, geography, and psychology

Take EDU 600 and EDU 690 in the Accelerated Secondary Education Program (ASP) in the Spring semester of the senior year

Upon graduation, students will matriculate into the Accelerated Secondary Education Program to complete the professional education core sequence for secondary education licenses. In their fifth year, these students will complete an additional 16 credits with an option to earn a Master of Arts degree in Education after completing 8 additional credits. (This is a 30 credit-hour MA + License program). Contact the School of Education, ASP, for more information.
